80s Casuals

The 80s Casuals brand are considered to be one of the most innovative and fastest growing designer clothing labels in the U.K. Formed in 2004, over 100 T-shirts which, pay homage to the football casuals era of the 1980s have been introduced. Many of the 80s Casuals designs are now being considered as collector's items and the people at 80s Casuals demand a loyal clientele who have been collecting the 80s Casuals designs since day one.

80s Casuals, the name alone evokes imagery of terrace boys parading their wears at away games during the depressive political and economic climate of Britain under Thatcher in the 1980s. 80s Casuals is a brand, which remembers those harsh times with a great fondness. Not for the Yuppie city boy who flaunted his rather unattractive wears for all to see, but for the style, music, trainers, attitude, football, fighting and camaraderie of the 80s. The 1980s belonged to the Casual!

80s Casuals are unashamedly and fantastically harking back to those days when the casual was king, and the casual truly was king. The casual sub-culture was born out of a totally natural youth movement with absolutely no coercing from the cynical press what so ever. In fact the casual, unlike other youth sub-cultures (mod, rocker, punk) was virtually ignored by the press for years. And that suited the casual just fine. The casual didn't want or need to be labelled; the casual didn't want or need to be mainstream. The casual merely existed for himself, his football team, his music and most importantly his stylish clobber. All this is what the 80s Casuals brand stands for, with a dash of happy nostalgia thrown in for good measure.

The 80s Casuals designer T-Shirt range incorporates a plethora of iconic imagery from the casual era during the 1980s. Possibly when the scene was at its height of creativity and vitality. Iconic images such as Adidas Gazelle and Adidas samba, Stan Smith and slogans such as 'It's Grim Up North' and 'London Calling' are all the kind of prints found on the 80s Casual's T-Shirt range. Evoking the past whilst elaborating on the present through the modern desire for 'retro'.

80s Casuals has also found popularity with today's coolest and undoubtedly most talented musicians, such legends as Richard Ashcroft, Mani, John Power from The La's and Cast, and Andy from The Enemy. No doubt John Power and Mani are more affiliated with casual culture than others. Mani for example was at the forefront of the Manchester scene with The Stone Roses during the late 80s and Manchester, along with Liverpool was the home of the casual.

Suffice to say the 80s Casuals brand is a great piece of kit and any ageing or even aspiring casual should have an item of 80s Casuals in their wardrobe.
