Stussy Brand Profile

The name Stussy needs no real introduction; it has been at the forefront of street-wear design and fashion for the past twenty five years now and shows no signs of letting up!

However, if you aren’t familiar with the brand then here’s a brief history to get you up to speed. In 1979 a young lad, named Shawn Stussy, from California had a small surfing business and used to scrawl his signature on the boards he sold with a black marker. This quickly became very popular within the surfing community and Shawn began printing T-Shirt’s bearing the signature logo as a promotional tool for his boards.

In time Stussy found himself focusing more and more on the apparel rather than the boards. His friend Frank Sinatra Jr, no relation to the singer, went into business with Shawn and in 1984 Stussy, Inc is born. As a partnership Frank dealt with the business side of things while Shawn focused all his efforts on designing the products and travelling around the world making contacts and spreading the Stussy name.

Throughout the years Stussy has never had any real marketing campaigns; it has become a success through its own unique exclusivity, quality and adaptability. Stussy began its existence as a surf brand which crossed over into skate wear then transferred into the emerging hip-hop scene of the mid 80’s and later became popular in Europe through DJ’s and the clubbing scene. Stussy himself describes the look as “prep meets punky meets b-boy”.

For these reasons alone, and many more too long to mention, Red Square has been trying to acquire this excellent brand for a very long time... and now we have it! Stussy T-Shirts are amongst the most iconic T-Shirts in streetwear today and we think you will love them.
